Amid the towering Ponderosa Pines of Douglas County, CO you will find many things not common to Denver; minimal traffic, monster mule deer, and a tight knit community of steel roadies obsessed with keeping the love and tradition of steel bikes alive.
Sunday, June 4th, 2023 will mark the 8th edition of the Eddy Rando Steel Classic, a truly unique event where steel bike aficionados ride, eat, drink and are merry, all the while ogling some of the finest steel bikes, both vintage and modern, that the world has ever produced.
The 'Eddy' as it's playfully known to locals, consists of a ride followed by lunch, beers, and one of the best Concours d'Elegance competitions around.
The routes come in the 18 and 30 mile variety so there is something for everyone. The 18 mile route is an out and back that highlights the scenic and quiet southern end of the Cherry Creek Trail and has a total of 870 feet of climbing. The new long route of the Eddy is considerably more challenging with 2200 feet of climbing but the views of the front range and open roads are definitely worth the effort.
Some of the biggest news at this year's 2023 Eddy Rando is that the swag has been upped and the registration fee has been lowered. Early Bird entry before April 15th is only $60 and includes the ride, entry of up to 3 bikes in the Concours d’Elegance, an Eddy Rando branded trucker hat, pandana, drink koozie and as always the iconic Eddy Rando commemorative poster. Another nice local touch is that lunch and beers are provided by two iconic Colorado brands, Qdoba and New Belgium Brewing. So grab your bike, burrito, and a beer and come join in on the fun!
Almost forgot to mention that another new addition to this year’s event will be complimentary post ride massages provided by Spavia Park Meadows. Just don’t forget to tip your masseuse for their effort!
All in all, the new and improved Eddy Rando is the best bang for your cycling buck out there. Sign ups are quickly approaching the halfway point of our 100 rider limit and pricing will increase to $75 on April 15th so get yourself signed up today for the finest steel cycling event around!
